City of Destiny Awards

Tonight we had an experience that we thought was not really a very big deal, but after arriving, we quickly learned that it was in fact a big deal! We attended the 26th Annual City of Destiny Awards, held this year at Stadium High School.
Among the award recipients was BECU (Tacoma branch) for their work in the community. Tom, obviously a member of the Tacoma branch, was invited to attend and I got to be the “plus 1”.
Fortunately, I didn’t have to go on stage, but Tom got the pleasure of doing so (sorry, the lighting is bad).
Throughout the night we were provided with various forms of entertainment to include the Wilson High school Scintillation…

…and a guitarist, Michael Powers who had one of the coolest guitars we’d ever seen! (it’s hard to see in this picture sorry).
It was a fun evening of learning what the people of Tacoma are doing to make Tacoma such a wonderful place to live. If you are in the area and you really want to see it, it airs on TV Tacoma Chanel 12 tomorrow night at 8pm (and a bunch of other nights coming up, but I don’t want to type out the whole schedule :).
